The tortuous road that Agere Systems (a spinoff of Lucent) has been following toward a public stock offering took a turn toward a less-affluent neighborhood. The company said in its latest regulatory filings that it will lower the terms of its IPO to 600 million shares priced between $6 and $7 a share. At the midpoint of that price range, Agere will raise $3.9 billion, sharply lower than the $6.5 billion it was hoping to raise. (source: CNET) http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1004-200-5218775.html

After the stock market fell last March, the IPO market cooled dramatically and success stories since that time have been few and far between. But KPMG Consulting was able to buck that trend and post a 30% gain on its first day of public trading, which suggests that in today's IPO market it is the established businesses and brand names that are being rewarded instead of the dot-coms. Forget the hip and nimble start-up Internet consultants, which were supposed to help dot-coms take over the world - they can barely help themselves as their shares fall and losses mount. At KPMG Consulting, meanwhile, revenue and profit are growing as it prepares to raise $2.02 billion in an initial public offering Wednesday. While 2000 was better than expected for initial offerings, this year's prospects – with only 3 venture-backed firms set to go public next month – could give VCs nightsweats. (source: The Standard) http://www.thestandard.com/article/display/0,1151,21364,00.html

On September 14th 2000, NewTech International announced in a press release (See SEDAR) that it had begun the procedures to get its shares to trade on a Canadian Exchange.
NewTech Group International has developed a revolutionary breaking system, they call the "NewTech Intelligent Breaking System".

The 360 degree full contact break ensures a breaking surface up to 7 times greater than that of conventional breaks. This distributes the heat energy released during breaking more evenly, thereby reducing thermal constraints and wear, as well as the risk of loosing control of the vehicle.

Other advantages of this technical breakthrough are improved noise, vibration and harshness, extended break life and reduced warranty costs.

For more information on this company please visit http://www.newtech-ibs.com or you can read the company's public documents on Canada's electronic securities documentation filing system on SEDAR at http://www.sedar.com/dynamic_pages/issuerprofiles_e/i00013725.htm

At this time the company is public but does not have its shares trading on an exchange.
The only way to purchase shares at this time is through existing shareholders.
