Well, in case you are wondering why MSFT beats expectations and then the stock doesn't respond, if you take out the sale of securities, they are thought to have missed expectations by a cent. It seems like a company like Microsoft may never actually miss estimates, they can simply sell more securities to make sure the number looks good superficially. Intel did the same thing.

Microsoft reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income and revenue that exceeded analyst expectations. The software juggernaut reported net income 44 cents per share, analysts had expected the company to report earnings of 42 cents per share, according to earnings estimate tracker First Call.
