Met Life is the second largest US life insurance company behind Prudential. MetLife offers a variety of individual life and property/casualty insurance products, as well as savings, retirement, and other financial services for groups and individuals. MetLife has filed to demutualize and sell 31% of the company to the public. Partial proceeds from the IPO will be used to buy fellow insurer GenAmerica. The company's State Street Research subsidiary and affiliate Nvest provide asset management services to institutions and individuals. The company expects to price between $14 and $24 and to raise a new IPO record $6.5 billion. The IPO date has not yet been set (source: SEC filings)
