To supplement what Gatsby posted earlier today, Apple's forthcoming operating system is called Sonata (I like the name), and is due out in fall. It comes with built-in portal features, such as email and Web searching, and adds some extra spins to current platforms. The ultimate goal is this: to provide the most convenient and customized Internet commerce machine. So is their competition IBM or Microsoft (ie is this kind of like a main frame or an operating system...or something altogether different?) The article I found this in is at: http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/current/rebecca.htx?source=htx/http2_mw |

During last week's Apple WorldWide Developers' Conference in San Jose, Steve Jobs finally gave some clues as to how the Internet is to play in Apple's grand strategy for the immediate future. A picture of the future Mac was painted: a computer built for e-commerce, with a desktop that seeks to replace a Web portal. I can only assume this is supposed to be the next generation of iMacs. I only wonder what the colors will be. |

Apple is improving its financial health, but it will never again be a dominant force in home computing, and it will probably never be the innovator it once was. The battle has been lost to Microsoft. |

Well Apple seems to be continuing its improbable comeback. Profit surged 58% in the second quarter, and they posted earnings of 60 cents per share. Who knew that the imac would realistically be successful? Well, at least they are bringing out new colors like tangerine, lime and blueberry I also read today in USA Today that Mr. Job is now on the CEO of CEO's list in the mind's of aspiring CEO's all over the country. A few years ago, I didn't realize Apple was still around, and I even still owned the IIgs... |

I own AAPL and CPQ, both have fallen in their price. Would any one care to suggest which one of the two to sell at this time? |

Why I think nows the time to invest in AAPL. A.) Almost every high tech PC, Chip maker or internet company that's making a profit in this growing industry has a PE ratio. In these industrys PE ratios on average tend to be at least 30 or higher. AAPL is in the mid teens. Secound of all for Steve Jobs the now CEO and founder of Apple is now once again in control of the empire he once started. After he left Apple that empire crumbled, well almost since his return it is now growing again by leaps and bounds. I believe that he is planning to introduce a heck of alot of other things. A heck with the Imac thats the present what he has stored for the future will probably blow every one away. But don't expect alot of hype befor it happens. He's been burned to many times with his technology stolen. Windows for example. Don't under estimate Apple it could be poised for a come back. Remember It was Apples original team that invented this whole PC revelution. Now that the teams back watch out for tomorow. Remember the 80s..... |

The overall market was down that day, plus some analysts are saying Apple will have a hard time managing its iMac inventory. More than 100K of the original iMacs haven't yet been sold, and clearing out this inventory may require more price cuts. Also, they're now selling the iMacs in five different colors, which multiplies the sales forecasting and inventory challenges fivefold. |

That's curious. The Street was expecting 70 cents EPS and Apple delivered 78 cents. Any ideas why the analysts weren't happy with the results? |

Yosemite is the replacement to the current desktop/minitower "pro" G3 line, aimed at higher-end users. Details are still sketchy, but it looks like it will probably be: new design; 333-400 MHz processors; USB and Firewire ports; Ultra DMA hard-drives.
