AT&T Wireless, frustrated that its stock price is languishing in the shadow of beleaguered parent AT&T, is planning to discuss a combination with Nextel Communications, among other strategic options, at a board meeting later this month. AT&T announced that Motorola will be their exclusive broadband infrastructure maker. Leave it to AT&T to pick a company like Motorola - both are basically stuck in the mud, losing out to fresher competition, and dealing with unhappy shareholders. Seems like a match made in heaven. I'm not surprised by this Armstrong move at all. |
