Affymetrix was rated "buy" in new coverage by analyst Todd R. Nelson at Dain Rauscher today. Nelson expects shares will rise to 130 within 12 months. (Don't ask me why he wasn't telling people to buy it when it was at 30...) |

They would turn profitable sooner if they didn't have to spend a couple million dollars a year in lawsuits to protect their patents against Incyte and Hyseq. I guess that's just the nature of the business. |

Here are their latest numbers (reported earlier this month): In the quarter, revenues were $16.2 million, up 125% over the same quarter last year. For the year, revenue increased 163% to $52.0 million. The company lost 31 cents per diluted share in the quarter and $1.11 per diluted share for the year. |
