Investors punished shares of electronic-commerce software supplier Broadvision Friday after it lost a big customer to one of its competitors. After the close of trading Thursday, American Airlines said it has selected software developed by Art Technology Group to power its new AA.com Web site. ARTG (still the proposed ticker symbol according to Hoover's) is expected to go public this week, along with more than 25 other technology companies! I've got a funny feeling that demand won't match the oversupply that will be available this week...it's going to be tough to call what opens at what price.

1. When I put ARTG into a ticker lookup, I don't get Art Technology Group.

2. As a user of ATG Dynamo who really like the product, i am very interested in this offering; however, I don't have any idea on how to value it. Who are ATG's cohorts and how have they done. Bluestone Saphire and Bea Sys (are they public?) come to mind as pure plays in the field and Sun, IBM, and Microsoft as companies who have significant assets in the field. Is revenue from web middleware even significant to the big boys?

3. Any word on when ATG might go?

Three of its clients (Babycenter.com, Sonicnet.com, and Spinner.com) won 1999 Webby awards for outstanding design. Shareholders include Softbank and Tudor Private Equity Fund. The company filed to go public in May but the IPO date hasn't been set yet. (source: SEC filing)
