- AmericasDoctor.com is the first full service medical/health information Internet site to offer private, real time, one-on-one dialogue with primary care physicians, therapists and other health care specialists. The company has received strong national attention since its launch on AOL in September 1998. The number of site visits and consumer chats is expected to increase significantly with the company's recent debut of its World Wide Web site, www.AmericasDoctor.com. Although AmericasDoctor.com physicians do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat over the Internet, AmericasDoctor.com offers the consumer a wealth of information on health-related issues and provides access to a range of products, services and programming. AmericasDoctor.com multiplied its online presence through the debut of its web site: www.AmericasDoctor.com, in March 1999, allowing access to products and services for non-AOL consumers. In addition to expanded content overall, www.AmericasDoctor.com launched it's condition specific and wellness communities which include health and disease-specific concentrations of interest. The site will include narrowcast programming, one-on-one physician-consumer chat, real time news and health information, self-help, in-community bulletin boards, in community chat, clinical trial participation, and broad health-related e-commerce offerings. They will also provide the consumer with one-stop-shopping for health information and products geared specifically toward individual consumer needs. AmericasDoctor.com is leveraging its significant current relationships with hospital sponsors, pharmaceutical companies and many other strategic partners, along with its customized technology and systems to become a comprehensive Internet destination for online health information, resources, and e-commerce. - The IPO hasn't happened yet. Probably sometime in August. - Online health care sites are very hot right now (ex. Healtheon, DrKoop), and this could give the IPO a boost. |
