Originally a provider of command and control software to the aerospace industry,Talarian turned its technology toward banks and securities exchanges (Chicago Board of Trade, NYSE), which use its middleware products to distribute data quickly across different networks. Its SmartSockets software uses proprietary multicasting technology to send an information request to many parties simultaneously across dissimilar networks and the internet. Nortel Networks and Novell have licensed SmartSockets for embedding into their own Internetworking and network management products. The company plans to raise $69 million but an IPO date hasn't been set yet. (source: SEC filing) |
