Formerly V-I-A Internet, created in 1997, the company has acquired a 17 ISPs in 11 European and Latin American countries. 115,000 subscribers use these regional units for dedicated or dial-up Internet access. With small and midsized businesses making up more then 40% of its customer base, VIA also provides such services as Web hosting, server co-location, virtual private networks, and e-commerce. VIA also has capacity on fiber-optic circuits in Europe and leases lines in Latin America. The company expects to raise about $200 million but no IPO date or price has been set.
