The company's broadband products enable the transport of voice, data, and images over fiber-optic, broadband cable, and wireless communications networks around the world. WJ relies on sales to large manufacturers (primarily Lucent and Nortel) for most of its business. To focus on the commercial market, the company sold its semiconductor equipment business (which had accounted for about half of sales) and its telecom group (radio-frequency products for the US government and systems for communications surveillance and signal processing). The company plans to go public soon and hopes to raise $100 million (source: SEC filing). |
