Bluestar provides DSL access throughout the southeastern US in cities with populations of less than 1.5 million. Other services include Web hosting and secure private networking. BlueStar leases the copper lines and fiber-optic cable in its ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) and Internet protocol network. The firm, which is also a competitive local-exchange carrier in more than 20 states, is extending its network nationwide. The company plans to go public soon and hopes to raise $200 million (source: SEC filing). |
