Business-to-business, building-to-building, BuildNet wants to streamline the residential construction process. The company makes project management software that manages the workflow of home construction. Its products help builders generate schedules and cost estimates, and then automatically create purchase and work orders. BuildNet is testing its BuildNet Exchange online network that, for subscription and transaction fees, links builders with suppliers and will offer such services as base price quoting, online purchasing, manufacturer information, and mortage loans. The company continues to expand its product line primarily through acquisitions. The company plans to go public soon and hopes to raise $230 million (source: SEC filing). |
