CDNow 10% shareholder Alan Meltzer filed to sell 225,000 shares of common stock between October 27 and October 29 with a market value of about $1.9 million, according to a Form 144 released by the SEC. Meltzer owned 1,712,594 shares as of 4-Mar-98. If he doesn’t want the stock when it’s at 9, why should I want it now that it’s at 20?

With the N2K acquisition, they nearly double their size. This should enable them to more successfully compete with Amazon.

Amazon was able to leverage its existing book sales to catch up to CDNow in 3 months. That’s pretty bleak news for CDNow.

Revenue growth is nice, but I would feel much better if the quarterly losses were shrinking rather than growing.
