This is why I never sell short... now that speculation has expanded from investors to corporations, you never know what ridiculous amount some company is going to be willing to (over)pay for a piece of junk.

Compaq CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer revealed some details about his company’s strategy at Comdex. Compaq is planning living room devices, such as TV set-top boxes, and specific appliances for the kitchen. They alluded to a specialized device in the kitchen that could "handle personal finances, home shopping, and home video and voice mail. Pfeiffer also announced new computers based on the AMD K6-2 processor, and a new three-pronged initiative to bring high-speed Internet access to consumers. He also said that Compaq intends to become a company offering web-enabled solutions to any company, of any size, on a global scale.
