CoSine Communications makes switches and software that network service providers can use to deliver Internet Protocol-based connectivity services. CoSine's IPSX 9000 switch features slots into which providers can insert service-specific "blades," which allow them to offer customized services such as virtual private networks, firewalls, virtual routing, and IP networking without having to deploy customer premises equipment. CoSine also makes network management software (InVision) for providers and their subscribers (InGage). The company, which outsources its manufacturing, sells directly to customers like Qwest and BroadBand Office. The company plans to go public soon and plans to raise $120 million. |
