The company provides hosting and colocation facilities (Internet Business Exchanges, IBXs) where ISPs, telecommunications carriers, and content providers can locate equipment and interconnect networks and operations. Equinix provides physical security and stresses its neutrality; the IBX centers allow access to multiple competing carriers and service providers. The company operates IBXs in Washington, DC, Newark, New Jersey, and in Silicon Valley; it and plans to expand to more than 30 centers internationally.
